This is a vintage French child’s scooter. It would seem that this one has been slightly adapted over the years with a non-functional headlamp added and a front mudguard. Along with a coat of gold paint! There is a pedal at the front which when depressed drives the chain on a spring driven rear wheel which is functional. A little lever / pedal to the rear applies the brake to the rear wheel. Folds down for transportation. Fascinating little item which has some damage from many years of play detailed below.
Markings: none seen
Sourced: in Normandy, France
Origin: likely French
Age: circa 1950-60’s. A vintage item.
Materials: Metal
Size: Small child, 5-8 years
Weight roughly: 3.4 kg (ask about cheaper shipping options if you are not in a rush)
Condition: In vintage well used condition. Surface rust apparent throughout but nothing that effects structural integrity. Painted gold at a later point in it’s life. Drive mechanism and brake functional. Bends to metal apparent throughout to include spots on the wheel rims, handlebars, handlebar stem (it looks to have suffered a few collisions), but main chassis is good, perhaps beyond being a functional toy again but a great display piece
